Wednesday Wonders!(:

Hey Ya’ll! Can you believe that today’s the last day of May? Where did the last 5 months go?!? Here’s the last May Wonders…

1) Our “Stone Wall”

"Stone Wall"We’ve been doing some work on our flower beds. We decided to take up the rock border and discovered that it consisted of two layers of long heavy rocks. We moved all those rocks up against the shed and built our selves a “stone wall”.

2) Mr. Red Throat

Ruby Throated Hummingbird

We’ve recently put a couple of hummingbird feeders near our front porch. It took a little while for the birds to find us but they finally have. Usually it’s the male Ruby-throated humming Bird whom we’ve named Mr. Red Throat. His Wife Mrs. Green Feather has been seen a couple of times, but she’s not not yet become a regular.

3) The Deep Blue Sky

Deep Blue Sky and White Puffy CloudsI was out taking a few pictures and noticed how blue the sky was. It really made the white puffy clouds pop.

What are some of the wonders you have noticed this past week? I’d love for you to share them below.

Until next time,

Lessons Learned from a Bug…

Bug on Flower

A much prettier bug than those I encountered on Monday….

“It just won’t die!!”

We spent some of the past weekend doing work outside. One of my “jobs” was to move and stack some of the wood so that we could clean off the carport. As I was moving the wood I came across several creepy-crawl-y bugs. Now, I don’t mind the occasional ant or catapillar. But these bugs that I was encountering were rather large and icky looking.

I kept trying to step on them or smush them with my foot but since I am rather uncorrdinated it ended up being a warning stomp; and the bug would just scurry away. It really made me angry. It seemed that no matter what I tried the bugs just wouldn’t die!

As I was walking away thinking about this and trying to not get totally creeped out, I was reminded of the spiritual side of this story.

“I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do.”
~Luke 12:4

I was reminded that we as Christians are very much like those bugs. The Devil can throw whatever he wants at us and it may kill us physically but it can’t kill us spiritually. We are alive on the inside–being renewed day by day (2 Corinthians 4:16).

Until next time,

Bailey Sue

Our Daily Blessings!(:

Happy Friday Ya’ll! I hope that you’ve had a wonderful week. This week has been full of hard work and the beginning of dreams being realized. Here’s a few blessings from along the way.

1) My Logos are in the Mail! (:

Content in the everdaySnapshots of Contentment LogosOne of the really big hurdles that I had yet to jump over had been designing the logos. I knew what I wanted them to look like and I had Mom draw/write them. She’s a much better artist than I am…I wasn’t given the gift of patience. We finished them earlier this week and mailed them yesterday. 🙂 For some reason it felt a little different than I had anticipated…I guess part of that can be attributed to actually being able to see a lot of my hard work pay off. Although I’m no where close to being done. I’m a lot futher than I thought I’d be by this point and am really excited (and a little worried) to see where all of this takes me.

2) The Work and Willingness of our First Responders and Military

Within the last year or two Bradley has decided what he wants to be when graduates highscool. He wants to be a Firefighter/Paramedic. None of us was really surprised considering that from the time he was two years old he has run to the nearst window the minute he hears a siren to watch the engines go by. However this dream has rather suddenly become a reality. He has decided to enroll in a local program to help highschool aged kids begin the necessary training to become a firefighter/paramedic.

Young Man in Firefighter gearToday, he went to fill out some paperwork and pick up his gear. In all honesty I’m happy for him. This is something that he has loved from the time he was a little kid, however that doesn’t mean that I’m not worried about my little brother running into fires. Even though I’m only 20 years old and 3.5 years older than him for some reason I still picture him at about 8 years old. So the idea that he’s actually growing up makes me feel really old and a bit sad, but happy.

Bible laying on the American FlagWith Monday being a day set aside to remember those who have sacrificed to defend and protect our freedoms, I wanted to say a couple of things. First, THANK YOU to all of you that have served our great country. Thank you for the sacrifice that you and your families have made. Our Nation wouldn’t be what it is today without you. Secondly, I want to remind you that freedom isn’t free. Not only have men and women died for the earthly freedom that we have here in America but Jesus died for the spiritual freedom that we all enjoy. He died so that we could be brought near to God (Ephesians 2:13).

I hope that ya’ll have a safe and fun long weekend. Next time you see someone in uniform thank them.

Until next time,

Bailey Sue

Making Him A Priority…

Bible, Journal, and To Do ListsI have a confession to make: I’m  not good at prioritizing. I know what needs to be done but I don’t complete the tasks in the best way. The things that are harder or that I just loathe doing are often times the very last things to get done. If they get done at all.

I didn’t realize how big of a problem this had become until recently. As I’m working to move foward with a couple of projects I realized that I had negelected a couple of very important things. This got me thinking a lot about how I prioritize my days and what’s really first in my life.

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
~Matthew 6:33

As we read the Bible we are reminded again and again that  our realtionship with God needs to be our top priority. We are reminded of God’s great love for us; His jealously for us. “You must worship no other gods, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his realtionship with you.”–Exodus 34:14

“I have given you an example to follow, Do as I have done to you”
~John 13:15

While Jesus was walking here on this earth He set us an example to follow. He showed us how to live, love, and die. As I read the stories of Jesus there’s always one thing that continues to stick out to me: His prayer life. Here’s what I mean. We see recorded in various places that Jesus went off by himself to pray (see Mark 1:35 & Luke 5:16). He took the time to seek God’s will before He tackled the day ahead.

I’m learning that one of the most important things that we can do each day is to start the day with God.  If we follow Jesus’s example and seek Him first He’ll supply the rest. He’ll give us the widsom to conquer our tasks–even those we loathe.

Until next time,

Bailey Sue

Wednesday Wonders!(:

Happy Wednesday Y’all! I hope that you are having a great start to your week! Here’s a few of the wonders that I’ve seen lately.

1) The Brave Toad

ToadThis little toad was very brave. We discovered him on the shed patio a week or so ago. I went out to get some pictures and I discovered that he was very photogenic. I was able to lay down on my stomach and get relatively close to him and he didn’t seem to get scared. Dad even stood behind him stepping on the grass to try and get him to jump. I wasn’t able to get a picture of him jumping. However I did get a couple of really good up close shots. I was so close that I could actually see him breathing… That was pretty cool.

2) Deer

DeerIn the old house we alway saw deer across the street. We didn’t see too many this Fall. However, we were doing some yard work out front recently and guess what we saw? Two deer across the street!! (: I was able to run in the house and get my zoom lens, I then ran to the edge of our yard with the lens zoomed in as much as possible. I was able to get some really good pictures. All I did with the image is crop it slightly so that you can see the deer more easily.

What are some of the wonders that you have noticed in your life this past week? I’d love for you to share them in the comments below!

A Thankful Heart

“O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.”
~1 Chronicles 16:34

Orange Lily in front of black backgroundI’ve been doing some work here on the backend of the blog. Along the way, I’ve been reading snippets of older posts and was reminded of the goodness of the God we serve. We are reminded over and over that God and His plans for us are good, but sometimes in the middle of this crazy life it’s hard to believe.

There seems to be so much sickness, sadness, and heartbreak in this world–and there is; but there’s also life, and hope, and joy–if we look for it. As I was reading these snippets, I saw that amid the hard things I faced, there was good. God was there leading me just as He promised.

I was thinking about the journey thus far: homeschooling, graduating, college, and researching and starting this blog. I was reminded how blessed I am to be given these oppertunities. Looking back, I realized that I’ve never heard the words, “You can’t do that!” or “That’s never going to work!”. I have always been shown love and encouragement. I’ve always been told things like, “Give it a try, what’s the worst that could happen?” or “I think you could really do this.”

“Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also have been doing.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11

I’m very thankful for all of the support I’ve been given throughout this journey. The words of encouragement and guidence that have been spoken have carried me far. I am not on this journey alone. No one is alone on their journey. We each have God lovingly showing us the way along with  friends and family to  encourage us to keep up the fight and stay on the path that God has for us.

I would personally like to thank each and everyone that has helped me along the way. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement, for liking, sharing and commenting on each of these posts, for offering a helping hand, for sharing your knowledge, and for giving me a chance to live my dream. Thank you! You are an encouragement to me!

Until next time,

Bailey Sue

Our Daily Blessings!(:

Hey Ya’ll! Happy Friday! We’ve had a pretty busy week, but there’s still a few blessings that I’d like to share with you.

1) A Visit With Family:

We had some extended family come in for a really quick over night trip earlier this week. It was really nice to visit and catch up on life. We met up at Dairy Queen for dinner and Blizzards. It’s one of our new traditions. (:

2) Curb Appeal:

Flower Bed in Front of houseWe finally got some curb appeal out front!!(: I’m so thankful that it looks even homier out there. There’s a few new types of flowers to photograph and watch grow. We still have a lot more work to do around the house to make it ours, but one step at a time it’s coming together.

3) A Shiny New Phone Case:

Shiny Purple Phone CaseWe recently had to upgrade our phones because we were having all sorts of problems with our old ones. We ordered new phone cases becasue these phones are longer and thinner than our old ones and they came today!! I love this case becasue it’s shiny and purple! Purple is one of my favorite colors and it’s really shiny! I love shiny things….

What are some of the blessings that you have noticed in your life this past week? I’d love for you to share them in the comments below!

I’ve Got That Joy

Grass in front of fenceYou rememer that old song that you used to sing during VBS about joy? It goes like this:

“I’ve got that joy, joy, joy, joy
Down in my heart.
Where? Down in my heart.
Where? Down in my heart.
I’ve got that joy, joy, joy, joy…”

I’ve been reminded recently that even amid the evil and heartache in this life there is joy and peace. This joy and peace is very different from the joy and peace offered by the world but it lasts through Eternity.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
~Romans 15:13

God doesn’t promise that life on earth is easy. In fact, He says the exact opposite. He says that we WILL have trouble (John 16:33). However He reminds us that He has overcome the world and that we can trust in Him (John 16:33, Psalm 62:8).

So, if we are told that life is going to be hard how is it that we are able to go through these challenges with JOY AND PEACE?

By taking God at His Word.

The Bible is FULL of the promises and assurances given to us by God. We need toTRUST those words and LIVE like we believe they are true!

The Devil will do ANYTHING in his power to make us question our faith in God. He walks the earth just LOOKING for someone to devour (Job 1:7b, 1 Peter 5:8). However, God protects His people (Job 1:10a, Psalm 34:7).

  • God promises that He will NEVER leave us (Matthew 28:20, Hebrews 13:5, Joshua 1:9).
  • NOTHING can ever seperate us from His great love (Romans 8:38-39).
  • The Lord FIGHTS for us (Ex.14:14).
  • God LOVES you (John 3:16, Zep. 3:17, 1 John 4:7-8).
  • God CARES for you (1 Peter 5:7, Psalm 8:4, Luke 12;30).
  • He has GOOD PLANS for you (Jer. 29:11, Matthew 6:25-34, Eph. 2:10).
  • He is the One who DETERMINES your worth (Genesis 1:27, Matthew 10:29-31, 1 Peter 1:18-19)
  • Jesus DIED for you (john 3:16, Romans 5:8, Eph. 2:4-7)
  • He PREPARES a place for you (John 14:1-3)
  • You are HIS CHILD (1 Jonh 3:1, Gal. 4:6, Romans 8:15)

If you’re anything like me you may find a lot of these very hard to believe at times. But you know what? IT’S ALL TRUE! Every word written in the Bible is 100% truth. And guess what else? It lasts FOREVER!

“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.”
~Isaiah 40:8

Wednesday Wonders!(:

Hey Ya’ll! We’ve been really busy the past couple of days but there’s been quite a few wonders that I have noticed in the last week.

1) Pretty Little Flowers:

PrimroseOn Saturday we were doing some yard work for a friend and she graciously gave me permission to share her pretty flowers with you. She said that they are Primroses who happen to be very invasive. So, every so often she has to got out and make sure to pull them back so that they don’t take over her whole flower garden. I liked these flowers because the petals looked so small and delicate. I was able to get a few really good close ups with my phone.

Raindrops on a PetuniaIn other news, we managed to get some curb appeal out front (YAY! More about this on Friday). Mom had just watered the plants as we were getting ready to leave and I noticed that the Petunias had some water drops  on them and decided to get a couple of pictures. Again, these were just taken on my phone.

2) Another Sunset:

Flag in Front on SunsetI love sunsets. The other night we were coming home and the sky was colored with another beautiful sunset. I naturally started taking several pictures and when I looked at them later I found this gem. I love the colors behind the flag. It’s almost as though the flag is silhouetted.

All of the photos that are in this post were taken with my phone. I say that to tell you that you don’t need a big fancy expensive camera to take great pictures. Sure there are some things that you can do with a DSLR that you can’t do with a cell phone but I do use my phone quite frequently and am usually pleased with the results.

What are some of the wonders that you have noticed in your life this past week? I’d love for you to share them in the comments below!

Until next time,

Bailey Sue

Pressing on Toward the Goal…

 Day # 1

Girl recieving diplomaTwo years ago all of this was a dream. It was something that I eventually wanted to accomplish.

A year ago this became something to work towards. I didn’t know how long it was going to take or what exactly was involved; all that I knew was that I wanted to give it a shot.

Seven months ago this dream started to become a realilty when I launched this site.

Today is the two year anniversary since I graduated high school. At the time I was just so excited and relieved to be done. We ended the ceremony by playing Matthew West’s song “Day One“.  I was finally starting grasp and accept the blessings that homeschooling offered. That Fall I started attending a community college for a photography certificate. After one sememster I decided that I didn’t feel going back was worth it for many reasons.

“…Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do; Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
~Philippians 3:13-14

April 11, 2016 I was offered the opportunity to try and start my own business and not work outside of the home. Six months later I am 100 posts into this blog and hopefully weeks away from opening an online shop! Sometimes when I look back over these last two years I see a lot of areas that I could improve on and things that I could do better. But then I am reminded that I’m a work in progress. We all have things that we could improve on and be better at–that’s just life.

I also see how much I’ve learned over these two years. I didn’t realize two years ago how much of life occurs after high school. I feel that I have learned a lot about who God is, how He sees me and what He wants me to do. And the best part is–this is really just the beginning. Every day is the first day of the rest of our lives. Let’s make the best of it! Being thankful for what we have and making the most of every opportunity that we have been given.

Until next time,

Bailey Sue
