Our Daily Blessings!(:

Welcome to your Friday! I hope that you’ve had a great week so far. Here are some the blessings from this past week.

1) Electricity

Red Water PumpAs you may know from yesterday’s post we lost our power for the second time in one week on Tuesday. You can read about what I learned from that experience here. I am very thankful that the lights came back on and that we have electricity in general. I’m thankful that tasks that used to take an entire day now only take a few hours from start to finish because of the electric appliances that have been invented.

2) Much Needed Reminders

Earlier this week I was tempted to start in on a self-pity party for the simple reason that God has called me on a different (slightly harder for me path) than that of some friends. Things that are very hard and scary for me seem to come a little easier to them and right now their life just seems easy. They go. they do. They’re done. While I on the other hand have to keep reminding myself that with what God has called me to do success doesn’t always happen just like that. Success is fought for. And it’s worth it. I was reminded just this morning in my devotional to stay where God has placed me and too keep pressing on. After all Their lives are very challenging too; just in different ways.

3) Putting Things to Practice

I’m very thankful that I am able to not only remember some of the different things that I have shared here but that I am also able to put them into practice. We have a very busy week  coming up and as I was thinking about it I remembered two very important things: 1) I need to take care of myself. I need to remember to eat healthy and drink enough water and pay close attention to how I’m spending my free time (am I wasting it on things that will make me feel cruddy or am I using/ doing something that will encourage me and build me up mentally and spiritually?) I also need to remember that I am just one person and I can’t ever do it all. So I need to remember to be Mary and not Martha. Taking time for what is really important and skipping those things that aren’t.

What are some of the blessings that you have noticed in your life this past week? I’d love for you to share them in the comments below!

Until next time,

Happy Friday Ya’ll! How was your week? Here’s a few blessings from the past week that I’d like to share with you.

1) A little cold snap before the heat wave

Earlier this week it felt a little like Fall. It was cloudy and chilly but still very nice out. The weather made us want to wear all of our sweaters and boots and have a fire in the fireplace even though it’s June. We’re enjoying every day but excited for Fall to arrive since we didn’t really get to celebrate last year because of the move. But I’m very thankful that we had a bit of a cold snap because it’s going to be 91° on Sunday. (:

2) An Abundance of Clothes

I’ve been very blessed to have a lot of nice clothes. They may not be name brand or high fashion but they are in really good shape and I like them. Recently our washer decided to quit working properly, so we got a new one that will be delivered Monday. We had been able to fiddle with the dial and get it to run fairly consistently until yesterday. I’m very thankful that we all have enough seasonably appropriate clothes to not need to use the washer much until Monday.

 3) An Outdoor Bible study

Bible study material with a morning snack

This photo was taken last Summer…

The past few days I have decided to spend more time in Bible study and prayer. I knew that I needed to make some changes and decided to move everything outside to our front porch. And you know what? It’s been SO nice,  to sit outside and learn from God while being surrounded by His creation. If you ever have the opportunity I encourage you to do a Bible study outside. I find it to be very relaxing and refreshing.

What are some of the blessings that you have noticed in your life this past week? I’d love for you to share them in the comments below. Have a great weekend and stay cool in this heat!

Happy Friday Ya’ll! I hope that you’ve had a wonderful week. This week has been full of hard work and the beginning of dreams being realized. Here’s a few blessings from along the way.

1) My Logos are in the Mail! (:

Content in the everdaySnapshots of Contentment LogosOne of the really big hurdles that I had yet to jump over had been designing the logos. I knew what I wanted them to look like and I had Mom draw/write them. She’s a much better artist than I am…I wasn’t given the gift of patience. We finished them earlier this week and mailed them yesterday. 🙂 For some reason it felt a little different than I had anticipated…I guess part of that can be attributed to actually being able to see a lot of my hard work pay off. Although I’m no where close to being done. I’m a lot futher than I thought I’d be by this point and am really excited (and a little worried) to see where all of this takes me.

2) The Work and Willingness of our First Responders and Military

Within the last year or two Bradley has decided what he wants to be when graduates highscool. He wants to be a Firefighter/Paramedic. None of us was really surprised considering that from the time he was two years old he has run to the nearst window the minute he hears a siren to watch the engines go by. However this dream has rather suddenly become a reality. He has decided to enroll in a local program to help highschool aged kids begin the necessary training to become a firefighter/paramedic.

Young Man in Firefighter gearToday, he went to fill out some paperwork and pick up his gear. In all honesty I’m happy for him. This is something that he has loved from the time he was a little kid, however that doesn’t mean that I’m not worried about my little brother running into fires. Even though I’m only 20 years old and 3.5 years older than him for some reason I still picture him at about 8 years old. So the idea that he’s actually growing up makes me feel really old and a bit sad, but happy.

Bible laying on the American FlagWith Monday being a day set aside to remember those who have sacrificed to defend and protect our freedoms, I wanted to say a couple of things. First, THANK YOU to all of you that have served our great country. Thank you for the sacrifice that you and your families have made. Our Nation wouldn’t be what it is today without you. Secondly, I want to remind you that freedom isn’t free. Not only have men and women died for the earthly freedom that we have here in America but Jesus died for the spiritual freedom that we all enjoy. He died so that we could be brought near to God (Ephesians 2:13).

I hope that ya’ll have a safe and fun long weekend. Next time you see someone in uniform thank them.

Until next time,

Bailey Sue

Hey Ya’ll! Happy Friday! We’ve had a pretty busy week, but there’s still a few blessings that I’d like to share with you.

1) A Visit With Family:

We had some extended family come in for a really quick over night trip earlier this week. It was really nice to visit and catch up on life. We met up at Dairy Queen for dinner and Blizzards. It’s one of our new traditions. (:

2) Curb Appeal:

Flower Bed in Front of houseWe finally got some curb appeal out front!!(: I’m so thankful that it looks even homier out there. There’s a few new types of flowers to photograph and watch grow. We still have a lot more work to do around the house to make it ours, but one step at a time it’s coming together.

3) A Shiny New Phone Case:

Shiny Purple Phone CaseWe recently had to upgrade our phones because we were having all sorts of problems with our old ones. We ordered new phone cases becasue these phones are longer and thinner than our old ones and they came today!! I love this case becasue it’s shiny and purple! Purple is one of my favorite colors and it’s really shiny! I love shiny things….

Our Daily Blessings

Hey, Ya’ll! I hope that you’ve had a great week. Here’s a few blessings from this past week that I’d love to share with you.

1) A new book in the mail:

Book, Bible, Journal, Pen and FlowersA couple of weeks ago I signed up for a giveaway on Facebook  for Matthew West’s new book “Hello, My Name Is”. I’m a big fan of Matthew’s music and I decided to enter. I figured what could it hurt? One of two things was bound to happen: 1) I don’t win and am out a few seconds or 2) I win and get a book for free that I was going to buy anyway. A couple of days later I  found out that I had won the book! (Which is HUGE since I never really win any of those things!!!)

Since I have a reader or two that will probably read the book at some point in the near future, I won’t give too much away. (; All I’ll say is that the book is really really good and I believe that you should read it. It has hleped me realize the way that Satan works to make me feel far away from God and the power and truth of the names that God has given me. (:

I haven’t finished it yet but I’m almost done with it and I love every bit of what I’ve read so far. (There’s a pretty good chance that by the time you read this I will have finished the book…) (:

2) Louis, Louise, & LaBlue:

So, we’ve made a few new friends in the past week or two. It seems that there are a lot more birds that visit us here than at the old house which is perfectly fine with me! We’ve had a male and female Cardinal picnicing and a Blue Bird sitting on the wire. We decided to name them (we name pretty much everything around here…) So, Louis and Louise are the male and female Cardinal respectively and LaBlue is the Blue Bird… I hope to be able to photograph them in the near future and share those with you. I’m hoping to make an attempt next week when it’s a bit more sunny and warm outside.

Our Daily Blessings

Hey Ya’ll! I hope that you have had a great week! It’s been a busy yet exciting week. Here’s a few of the blessings that I’ve noticed.

1) The Privilege to Vote:

On Tuesday I worked the polls for a special election. It was a very slow day but I’m thankful that we have the right to have our voices heard. I’m thankful that we have men and women willing to sacrifice to protect our rights and I’m thankful that I am able to express my thanks to those who protect us daily. One of my favorite things about working the polls is processing the police officers and military men and women. I love being able to tell them “thank you for your service”.

2) The Opportunity to make a difference:

Tomorrow our family has the opporrtunity to make a difference in the lives of others. Our church has been involved in Walk4Water for the past 9 years. The program rasies money to drill  wells in third world countries where the people have to walk 4 or more miles to get clean water. I was reminded that you don’t need to do something huge to make a difference. The small things like walking for donations makes a difference too. I look foward to this opportunity and the difference that it will make in the lives of others.

3) Spring Cleaning part 2:

House decorated with patriotic bunting

Just look how festive and welcoming that is!!(:

The other day Mom did a lot of Spring Cleaning. She also put a few decorations outside. It looked amazing. There’s bird magnets on the door and she hung a sign on the side of the house. The fireplace mantle had been scrubbed and adored with tiny flags and old books. The brick had been cleaned and the stove shined. The floors were mopped and shined and the dust bunnies that were the size of rabbits hiding behind the furniture were disposed of.

Our Daily Blessings

1) Meeting Dave Stotts of “Drive Thru History”

Kids with Dave Stotts of "Drive Thru History"One of our favorite parts of the Homeschool Convention this year was getting to meet the masterminds behind one of our favorite T.V. shows, “Drive Thru History“.  We have been fans of the show for years and it was really neat to hear that they have a lot of cool stuff in the works and a few behind the scenes stories.

2) A Clean House

Being gone two weekends in a row it’s nice to be home and to be able to get caught up on some chores and laundry. We were also able to get a little bit of Spring Cleaning in as well. The house is pretty well put together and functioning since moving in in Novemeber now we have to tackle the yard… We have been making small amounts of progress in the past couple of weeks and it’s looking a lot better.

3) Strawberry Shortcake Donuts…

Strawberries covered in sugarWhile we were running some errands yesterday Dad wanted us to stop by the Farmer’s Market and pick up some strawberries. Our plan was to make some bisquits and have Stawberry Shortcake for dessert. Once we got home Mom got to thinking about using the glazed donuts that we bought on sale as the base. We didn’t get to try it last night as we had planned because we had a couple of errands to run after Dad got off work. So, we’re going to try it for dessert tonight. I’ll let you know what I think. However, Mom is right about a lot of life 99.999% of the time, so I’m guessing that it’s going to be really good.

Our Daily Blessings!

Hey Y’all! I hope that you’ve had a good week. This week has been really busy but good all the same. Let’s dive right on into some of this week’s blessings.

1) The stink bug NOT crawling on my face

Yes, you read that correctly. On Sunday night we sang the final song and were dismissed. Seconds later there’s a gentleman sitting behind me that calls my name. I turn around and he tells me to SLOWLY take my hat off. As I do so he informs me that there was a stink bug hanging out on my hat most of the service!! How embarrassing is that!?! He said that he kept waiting on the bug to make his way around to my face just to see how composed I would be. I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t be very composed if that happened. So, I’m very thankful that he stayed on the back of my hat and out of sight until we killed him. At least everyone got a good laugh! Have you had anything similar happen to you? If so, I’d love for you to tell me about it in the comments below!

2) Being able to enjoy the nice weather

Ironically it’s raining really heavily as I write this, but the rest of the week was filled with gorgeous weather. I was able to sit on the swing a couple of times this week and just be. I even got in some bonding time with Trinity! (: Evidently she likes swings. One of the things that amazes me living out in the country is the amount of dandelions. They are EVERYWHERE. Which is not so good for my allergies. But at least they’re bright and cheery. I loved having the windows open again and just letting the cool breeze blow through the house. There’s a couple of spots throughout the house where you can just stand and you get to feel the wonderful breeze just blow over you. Trust me, it feels so good! (:

3) Fresh Baked CookiesFresh Baked Chocolate Chip Cookies I decided to bake some cookies for our upcoming trip. One of our favorites is chocolate chip. After a few years of trying to make them like my Great Grandma I think I have finally succeeded!! We have found that we like them better with the mini chocolate chips–it seems to spread the chocolate out if you have mini chips as opposed to the larger ones. Almost every bite contains chocolate. (: What is your favorite kind of cookie? I’d love for you to tell me in the comments below! I love trying new recipes!

Our Daily Blessings

Happy Friday Ya’ll! I hope that your week was filled with lots of good things amid the mundane and busy. Here’s a few blessings from the past week.

1) A blessing for the birds

Burnt Bread for the BirdsEarlier this week I was making toast for breakfast. I put the toast in the oven with the broiler on high. I then proceeded to get distracted getting a couple of things for mom so that she would know what to pick up at the store when she went later that day. As we were talking about upcoming plans that we had I suddenly remembered that I had toast in the oven. I walk into the kitchen and the bunner is smoking. So I open the oven to find that the toast is completely black on one side and soft and sticky on the other. So, we took the burnt toast and broke it up and threw it in the yard for the birds to munch on. Hopefully they eat it unlike the really burnt microwave popcorn…

2) Trinity having friends to play with

Dog Using a Seat Belt

Dog Smiling in Car

Look how happy she is…(:

Trinity gets so excited to go play with her friends…I’m thankful that we have friends that let us play with their dogs…It’s one of her favorite parts of the day!

3) Windows open

Book Blowing Open in the WindYesterday was a beautful day! The sun was shining and the wind was blowing. We ended up getting a little warm and opted to open all the windows. We have 20 some windows in the entire house. Let me tell you that the house felt AMAZING when all the windows were open and a slight breeze was blowing through. It was such a blessing to have a cool breeze blowing through the house. I look foward to having the windows open more throughout the year.

Our Daily Blessings

Happy Friday Ya’ll! I am very thankful for the blessings that I have experienced this week. This week was fun. There were challenges and there were joys. I noticed some of the little things and was able to take advantage of the really nice weather that we had yesterday. So, onto this week’s daily blessings

1) Having the windows open

Cat Sitting in an Open windowWe were able to open a few windows earlier this week. I have to say that I’m excited to see what late Summer, early Fall feels like with our 20 something windows open. Anyway, yesterday we had one of the kitchen windows open and were hanging out on the porch and Calico was hanging out in the window. She loved having the windows open.

2) Bright colored clothes

Bright Colored OutfitI have been very blessed with a lot of clothing. I am very thankful that I have multiple different outfits to choose from each day. I find it really nice that I am able to wear brighter colors when the sky is gray. I find that when it’s really dark and dreary out I like to wear something brighter; it seems to make my mood a little peppyer. I was able to do just that today.

3) Being able to listen to music

As I have said many times before. I love listening to music. I usually have some sort of music playing during most of my day. Today I was able to go upstairs and clean listening to some of my favorite songs. I was able to kill two birds with one stone; I cleaned my room and was able to get in a better mood.

What are some of the daily blessings that you have noticed in your life this past week? I’d love for you to share some in the commets below. Have a great weekend!
