Our Daily Blessings!(:

Hello everybody, welcome to your Friday! I hope that you have had a great week seeing all of the little ways that God has brightened your days. Here’s some of the blessings I’ve noticed this past week.

1) Our First Responders

I’m thankful that God gives everyone different strengths and weaknesses. The things that I can’t do or can’t do well someone else exceeds at. I’m thankful that God knows that we need all sorts of different people to do all sorts of different things. Monday was 9/11. A day that to thousands not in the United States of America is just another day. To Americans it’s a day that we will never forget. It’s the day that we were attacked for being that light on a hill–that place of freedom. Each year on the anniversary we remember. We remember loved ones that died. Those that sacrificed so that others could be saved from the smoke and fire. And we remember that even in the worst tragedies God is there with us and won’t let us face these hard things alone. I am beyond thankful that there are those willing to run into the fires while others are fleeing. I’m thankful for the sacrifice that they and their families make day after day and year after year so that we can all be kept safe.

2) The Fall decorations are out!!

Acorn PeopleAs many of you know I have been super excited and counting down the days until we can finally decorate for Fall. On Tuesday we pulled out all the decorations and put them around the house. We decided to decorate the outside Monday night because it was supposed to rain all day Tuesday. It didn’t take us long to put the decorations out but I LOVE it. The house looks all warm and cozy and festive. 🙂

3) THE BEAVER DAM IS GONE!!!

Beaver Dam Before and AfterSo remember earlier in the Spring when I mentioned the Beaver Dam and how we were working on getting rid of it? Well, good news! It’s GONE! I remember thinking that it would take us FOREVER to get rid of it but it really didn’t take that long. The days that we were outside cutting wood we would just pick up a pile of the Beaver Dam and throw it on the fire every so often. We even took down one of the smaller trees back in the corner.

As I think about the Beaver Dam being down I can think of three blessings–three things that I am thankful for.

  1. IT’S GONE! Now when we look out the sun room windows we don’t see a huge pile of sticks that need burned we can now dream and plan ways to use that space more effectively.
  2. Working together. It took all five of us working outside and working together to be able to finally get rid of it. Those memories of working together will last us a lifetime.
  3. Wood for Christmas. I know that it’s a little early to start thinking about Christmas but one of the things I have wanted to do Christmas Eve and Christmas Day is to have logs burned in the fireplace instead of the 4x4s or slats. Now, I know that all wood burns and provides heat but I just think having logs in the fireplace for Christmas would be very old fashioned and pretty. Since we took down a tree from the back corner we have 2018’s Christmas wood. 🙂 We even found a few small pieces that were stuck in the Beaver Dam that we can use this year!

Hey Ya’ll! Welcome to September!(: Here’s a few of the blessings I’ve noticed this past week!

1) Hope in the midst of tragedy

Hurricane Harvey has brought devastation on so many people in the Houston, Texas area. But amid the tragedy there is HOPE. People are coming together to donate truck load after truck load of supplies. Others are donating their time and money to help these people who have lost everything. I’ve enjoyed watching the news coverage because it reminds that even though bad things happen there is still hope. People are still helping people. It encourages me to know that no matter how bad the world seems to have gotten in recent years there are still good people willing to love and help others the way Jesus would.

2) IT’S SEPTEMBER 1ST!!!

Okay Ya’ll I am so happy that it’s finally September! We all feel like we got a little jipped on celebrating Fall last year due to our move. But thankfully we have no plans of moving again in the near future and we can really savor this time of the year. I’m really looking forward to sweaters, boots, hoodies, and bonfires. Before we know it, it’ll be time to light the wood burning stove and curl up on the couch with a good movie and some hot cocoa!

3) Everything Pumpkin

Pumpkin Nut CookiesSpeaking of September 1st I am also very thankful that it once again is time for everything pumpkin! 🙂 Pumpkin Spice creamer, pumpkin nut cookies (which I’m making later today!) and pumpkin granola bars (which tasted really good by the way!) Are you a fan of all things pumpkin? If so, I’d love to hear what pumpkin-y things are your favorite–tell me in the comments below!

Happy Friday Ya’ll! I hope that you’ve had a good week . Here’s some of the blessings that I have noticed in my life this past week.

1) Getting Wood ready for winter

Stacked WoodThis week we’ve been cutting a lot of wood to get ready for the upcoming cooler temperatures. I can not tell you how excited I am for Fall. I am ready for jeans, sweaters, hoodies, bonfires and fires in the fireplace. It’s been a really good workout moving and stacking wood a couple of nights this past week. And it feels good to know that we are all working together for a common goal and that there is no job that is too small…All jobs are important.

2) Seeing Dreams Come True

Firefighter Bradley

2006 and 6 years old–2017 and 17 years old

Before each of us kids started Kindergarten we went though a program called “Passport to Safety”. The program taught kids the importance of stranger danger, when to call 911, and introduced us to first responders. One particular day was Firefighter day. Some of the local Firemen would come with their ambulances and firetrucks so that we could be somewhat familiar with them and not be scared of them. There was also a firefighter that put on all of his gear so that we could see what he looked like and in the event of a fire run to him and not away from him. This was Bradley’s favorite day (and my least favorite day–I still get a teeny bit creeped out by the ambulances.)

This week Bradley has had the opportunity to help out with the program. He went yesterday and got to put on all the gear (including the breathing apparatus for the very first time) and be that firefighter that the kids had to high five (and occasionally hug). Today he has the pleasure of being Sparky (who terrified him as a child). It’s really neat to see him come “full circle” if you will. From a star struck child loving the engines to a 17 year old that gets to dress up in all the real gear and be on the engine.

3) New Designs added

Owl Scarecrows Facebook Image for BlogIn preparation for Fall I have added a few new designs to my shop. You can view and purchase them here, here and here if you wish. I plan on adding more in the next couple of weeks so if you don’t see one you absolutely love just hang tight there’s more coming…

What are some of the blessings that you have noticed in your life this past week? I’d love for you to share them in the comments below.

Have a great weekend and be safe watching the eclipse Monday!

Until next time,

Hello and Welcome to your Friday! Here’s a few blessing from this past week.

1) Mind Mapping my Goals:

Mind Mapping My GoalsEarlier this week I decided to sit down and create a mind map listing all of my goals and dreams for each aspect of the business. And you know what? It was so invigorating. It was something that most business owners and bloggers suggest and something that I thought that I could just get by with a mental list. I was wrong. I found that getting it all out on paper gave me clarity by clearly and specifically defining my purpose, dreams, and goals.

2) Cooler Night Time Temperatures:

As I’ve said in earlier posts I LOVE Fall. So, I am very happy to report that although it’s not quite mid-August it has been much cooler in the evenings!! We are almost to the perfect bonfire weather! And hopefully it won’t be much longer until we are enjoying a fire in the wood burning stove!

3) A Day at the Farm:

Buckeye SundaeFeeding the GoatsLast Saturday we went to explore a local dairy farm and check out a car show that they were hosting. We looked around at all the old fashioned cars and fire trucks. After that we bought lunch and ice cream. Mom suggested that her and I split their “Buckeye Sundae”. I was a bit miffed at this suggestion but went along for the ride and boy was I thankful! The sundae was amazing! It was almost comparable to a “Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup” in ice cream form. It was really rich and so good. I could have eaten the whole thing but I would’ve been sicker than a dog. Splitting it with Mom enabled me to enjoy it without being sick. Then we walked around some more and I got to feed some goats.

Happy Friday Ya’ll! I hope that you are having a fabulous Summer. Here’s a few blessings from this past week.

1) Not Getting Lost during the “The Greatest Commands Song”

So our church periodically sings this very pretty song called “The Greatest Commands”. It has about 4 different parts. Altos, bass, tenor, and then soprano. And each part has a different verse that they sing until the song is over. The altos start followed by the bass and tenors finally ending with the sopranos. This is fantastic and it sounds really amazing as each part is added. However, I am not a very strong singer and get lost easily. This means that usually by the very end when the sopranos stop singing Alto I get horribly lost…But NOT this time!!(: This time I managed to follow along all the way through the ENTIRE SONG AND NOT GET LOST!!!(: (*victory dance*).

2) A new Reading Nook

Reading NookWe have been rearranging some furniture lately–making the house more conducive and ready to decorate for the holidays. We took the rocking chair from upstairs and moved it to the living room. In it’s place we created a comfy reading nook. All of the extra pillows and blankets that JoJo and I had we nicely placed in the corner to create a really comfy nook for reading and Bible study. I love starting my day in that nook reading my Bible and spending time with God.

3) A Successful Week

As some of you may know I recently started a new routine and it has been a success. This is not to say that every day this week I got everything done off of my to-do list. Because I didn’t. But I have applied my self and made some changes for the better. Although this week hasn’t been perfect and there have been a few hard days I am thankful for this change and am excited to see what God and I can accomplish through this new routine. Here’s to week two!

The Blessings of a Flat Tire…

The Van's New Shoes

The Van’s new shoes! (:

We had already left two hours later than we had planned that morning. It was warm and sunny out. I was sitting in the van happily in my own little world listening to “Gaither Vocal Band” albums and Steven Curtis Chapman.

With about an hour and a half to go in the trip. Something starts to get really loud and Dad slowly pulls the van to the side of the highway. We had a tire blow out.

Everyone piles out of the van and onto the grassy hillside–In my case it’s flipflops first. Dad and Bradley begin changing the tire while Mom contacts family and JoJo and I watch and make sure other cars don’t hit us.  Once we get the spare on we realize that it’s flat too. “Fix a Flat” and about  1-2 dollars of air at the gas station up the road gets us to the Wal-Mart about 3 miles away from where we actually got the flat tire.

Thankfully this Wal-Mart had an Auto Center that got us right in with two new tires. To occupy our time I am informed that I’m getting some new shoes (and socks). Mom was tired of my shoes coming out of the van before I did. Once those were picked out, purchased and on my feet we looked at Chap-Stick and cool little hat lights. Shortly after that we were able to pay for the tires and be back on the road with only about an hour and a half delay.

We could have sat there and bemoaned the fact that we had a flat tire, no one stopped to help, and we were going to be arriving at our destination about the time we were planning on leaving (henceforth, our travel home would be way later than we had planned and our busy plans for the next day were going to be changed).

OR…We could be thankful for all of the blessings that we saw in those moments.

  1. The flat tire was on the right rear–further away from traffic and slightly safer.
  2. The weather was nice. Although it was hot it wasn’t boiling and it wasn’t snowy, icy, and freezing out.
  3. We were able to get safely to a Wal-Mart on the pumped up spare pulling a loaded trailer.
  4. The first Wal-Mart we stopped at had an auto center.
  5. The Auto people got us right in and worked quickly to get us back on the road.
  6. We arrived safely at our destination and no one was harmed.
  7. I got some new shoes and cool looking socks.
  8. Although we arrived home after 2 am we got home safely with no further problems.
  9. Mom had a lot of driving the next week and it was good that if the tire had to blow it blew when Dad was able to fix it and Mom didn’t have to worry about it.

We may never know why we got a flat tire when we did. But, we had a choice. We could be discouraged and upset over the inconvenience that the tire caused or be thankful for what went right. In every situation, there is good to be found; you may just have to search for it.

Until next time,

Bailey Sue

Our Daily Blessings!(:

Welcome to your Friday! I hope that you’ve had a great week so far. Here are some the blessings from this past week.

1) Electricity

Red Water PumpAs you may know from yesterday’s post we lost our power for the second time in one week on Tuesday. You can read about what I learned from that experience here. I am very thankful that the lights came back on and that we have electricity in general. I’m thankful that tasks that used to take an entire day now only take a few hours from start to finish because of the electric appliances that have been invented.

2) Much Needed Reminders

Earlier this week I was tempted to start in on a self-pity party for the simple reason that God has called me on a different (slightly harder for me path) than that of some friends. Things that are very hard and scary for me seem to come a little easier to them and right now their life just seems easy. They go. they do. They’re done. While I on the other hand have to keep reminding myself that with what God has called me to do success doesn’t always happen just like that. Success is fought for. And it’s worth it. I was reminded just this morning in my devotional to stay where God has placed me and too keep pressing on. After all Their lives are very challenging too; just in different ways.

3) Putting Things to Practice

I’m very thankful that I am able to not only remember some of the different things that I have shared here but that I am also able to put them into practice. We have a very busy week  coming up and as I was thinking about it I remembered two very important things: 1) I need to take care of myself. I need to remember to eat healthy and drink enough water and pay close attention to how I’m spending my free time (am I wasting it on things that will make me feel cruddy or am I using/ doing something that will encourage me and build me up mentally and spiritually?) I also need to remember that I am just one person and I can’t ever do it all. So I need to remember to be Mary and not Martha. Taking time for what is really important and skipping those things that aren’t.

What are some of the blessings that you have noticed in your life this past week? I’d love for you to share them in the comments below!

Happy Friday Ya’ll! How was your week? Here’s a few blessings from the past week that I’d like to share with you.

1) A little cold snap before the heat wave

Earlier this week it felt a little like Fall. It was cloudy and chilly but still very nice out. The weather made us want to wear all of our sweaters and boots and have a fire in the fireplace even though it’s June. We’re enjoying every day but excited for Fall to arrive since we didn’t really get to celebrate last year because of the move. But I’m very thankful that we had a bit of a cold snap because it’s going to be 91° on Sunday. (:

2) An Abundance of Clothes

I’ve been very blessed to have a lot of nice clothes. They may not be name brand or high fashion but they are in really good shape and I like them. Recently our washer decided to quit working properly, so we got a new one that will be delivered Monday. We had been able to fiddle with the dial and get it to run fairly consistently until yesterday. I’m very thankful that we all have enough seasonably appropriate clothes to not need to use the washer much until Monday.

 3) An Outdoor Bible study

Bible study material with a morning snack

This photo was taken last Summer…

The past few days I have decided to spend more time in Bible study and prayer. I knew that I needed to make some changes and decided to move everything outside to our front porch. And you know what? It’s been SO nice,  to sit outside and learn from God while being surrounded by His creation. If you ever have the opportunity I encourage you to do a Bible study outside. I find it to be very relaxing and refreshing.

What are some of the blessings that you have noticed in your life this past week? I’d love for you to share them in the comments below. Have a great weekend and stay cool in this heat!

Our Daily Blessings!(:

Happy Friday Ya’ll! I hope that you’ve had a wonderful week. This week has been full of hard work and the beginning of dreams being realized. Here’s a few blessings from along the way.

1) My Logos are in the Mail! (:

Content in the everdaySnapshots of Contentment LogosOne of the really big hurdles that I had yet to jump over had been designing the logos. I knew what I wanted them to look like and I had Mom draw/write them. She’s a much better artist than I am…I wasn’t given the gift of patience. We finished them earlier this week and mailed them yesterday. 🙂 For some reason it felt a little different than I had anticipated…I guess part of that can be attributed to actually being able to see a lot of my hard work pay off. Although I’m no where close to being done. I’m a lot futher than I thought I’d be by this point and am really excited (and a little worried) to see where all of this takes me.

2) The Work and Willingness of our First Responders and Military

Within the last year or two Bradley has decided what he wants to be when graduates highscool. He wants to be a Firefighter/Paramedic. None of us was really surprised considering that from the time he was two years old he has run to the nearst window the minute he hears a siren to watch the engines go by. However this dream has rather suddenly become a reality. He has decided to enroll in a local program to help highschool aged kids begin the necessary training to become a firefighter/paramedic.

Young Man in Firefighter gearToday, he went to fill out some paperwork and pick up his gear. In all honesty I’m happy for him. This is something that he has loved from the time he was a little kid, however that doesn’t mean that I’m not worried about my little brother running into fires. Even though I’m only 20 years old and 3.5 years older than him for some reason I still picture him at about 8 years old. So the idea that he’s actually growing up makes me feel really old and a bit sad, but happy.

Bible laying on the American FlagWith Monday being a day set aside to remember those who have sacrificed to defend and protect our freedoms, I wanted to say a couple of things. First, THANK YOU to all of you that have served our great country. Thank you for the sacrifice that you and your families have made. Our Nation wouldn’t be what it is today without you. Secondly, I want to remind you that freedom isn’t free. Not only have men and women died for the earthly freedom that we have here in America but Jesus died for the spiritual freedom that we all enjoy. He died so that we could be brought near to God (Ephesians 2:13).

I hope that ya’ll have a safe and fun long weekend. Next time you see someone in uniform thank them.

Until next time,

Bailey Sue

Hey Ya’ll! Happy Friday! We’ve had a pretty busy week, but there’s still a few blessings that I’d like to share with you.

1) A Visit With Family:

We had some extended family come in for a really quick over night trip earlier this week. It was really nice to visit and catch up on life. We met up at Dairy Queen for dinner and Blizzards. It’s one of our new traditions. (:

2) Curb Appeal:

Flower Bed in Front of houseWe finally got some curb appeal out front!!(: I’m so thankful that it looks even homier out there. There’s a few new types of flowers to photograph and watch grow. We still have a lot more work to do around the house to make it ours, but one step at a time it’s coming together.

3) A Shiny New Phone Case:

Shiny Purple Phone CaseWe recently had to upgrade our phones because we were having all sorts of problems with our old ones. We ordered new phone cases becasue these phones are longer and thinner than our old ones and they came today!! I love this case becasue it’s shiny and purple! Purple is one of my favorite colors and it’s really shiny! I love shiny things….
