Thanksgiving is officially ONE week away! Family will be coming into town and we all will be celebrating and visiting and eating a lot of good food. I’m sure that for many of us preparations are underway. Menus are being laid out, Calls are being placed to out of town family, reservations are being made, and last minute grocery store trips are just getting started.
As we all get ready for the big day I’d like to remind you (and myself) that even though life is a little hectic and busy right now we need to remember to prepare our hearts.
Thanksgiving is one day of the 365 days that we have in a year that is set aside for giving thanks. But giving thanks shouldn’t be reserved for just one day of the year. It’s something that we should be doing day in and day out. Regardless of how busy life gets.
We need make sure that our priorities are in order. We need to keep spending time with God each day and thanking Him for our blessings. We need to be asking Him what He wants us to do with the day that He has given us.
Reading and thinking on His Word as well as praying will provide the direction that we so desperately need during this busy season. It will allow us to see beyond our circumstances and what we deem “important”.
This Thanksgiving lets remember to prepare our hearts to give thanks to the One Who gave us everything. Amid the hustle and bustle of the coming season lets make every effort to keep Him first.
Until next time,
