Hello Friends! In this last week of 2016 I’ve been doing a little thinking about the past year. There have been a lot of changes and opporitunites; some that I have taken and others that have been lost. This year has been good for me in many ways; I have learned a lot more about myself and my weaknesses. And I have learned that I need to rely more on God and not on my own strength to change.

“Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.” ~Mark 14:38

God knows that man is weak; but He is stronger. He has given us His strength (See Isaiah 40:29-31). He has given us all that we need to resist temptation. We just have to use it.This reminded me of a sermon that our minister presented on  Ephesians 6:13-18 which describes what we have called “The Whole Armor of God”. The Bible says that if we put on this armor we will be able to “…Stand against the schemes of the Devil.” (6:11).

Each piece of this armor is quite simple but when placed together and covered in constant prayer it helps us to put this life in the proper perspective and hold on to the hope that we have been given.

So, what is this armor?

  • The truth found in God’s word (6:14)
  • The righteousness of Jesus (6:14)
  • The peace that passes understanding (6:15)
  • Faith in God and His perfect plan (6:16)
  • The salvation that is found in Him (6:17)
  • The Word of God that is found in the Bible (6:17)

As we say goodbye to 2016 and hello to 2017 let’s put our armor on so that we will be able to stand firm against the Devil’s attacks.

Until next time.
